【Promotion】 The 24th IUHPE World Health Promotion Conference - Activity Record

The 24th IUHPE International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) was held from May 15 to May 19, 2022, and due to the epidemic, this year's conference was changed from a physical conference to an online one. The theme of this year's conference is "Promoting policies for health, well-being and equity", attracting academics and professionals from around the world, with nearly 160 oral presentations, workshops, symposiums, and 380 poster presentations. It is an important international stage for the exchange of knowledge and sharing of practical experience in health promotion.

In order to increase the international exposure of health promoting schools in Taiwan, the Health Promotion Administration(HPA) has commissioned the research team of Professor Fu-li Chen at Fu Jen Catholic University to organize a workshop and a poster presentation at this year's IUHPE conference. Through this opportunity, Taiwan's health promoting schools can be introduced to the world, and the international community of health promotion can exchange with other countries and learn from their valuable experiences.

The theme of the workshop is: Implementing health-promoting intersectoral policies to contribute to social change - Supporting every school to become a foundation for healthy lives. The workshop was introduced by the Deputy Director of the Health Promotion Administration, Ms. Shu-Li Chia, with speakers from France, Australia, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, New Caledonia and other international experts, including Professor Didier Jourdan from the University of Clermont Auvergne, France; Professor Lawrence St. Leger from Deakin University; Professor Albert Lee from the Chinese University of Hong Kong; Professor Nicola Gray of the University of Huddersfield, and Nathalie Dupeux, Education Officer to the Direction of Education of New-Caledonia, are some of the internationally renowned scholars.
The workshop focused on two major areas, policy and human resources. In addition to sharing cases of interdepartmental policies from a practical perspective, the workshop also shared the impact of policies and human resources on student health literacy from a research perspective, allowing participants to learn about the input of health promotion research and practical strategies. Participants from all over the world spoke and shared their practical experiences.

The project team also submitted a poster for publication with the theme: Factors influencing children's health literacy: socioeconomic factors, school policies and human resources. The study found that health promotion school policies were the main factor affecting students' health literacy, and teachers who received more health promotional training also had significantly better student health literacy performance. The key role of policy and human resources in the promotion of Health Promoting Schools is echoed in the theme of this year's workshop.

This year, through this important international public health platform, we will share our practical experience in promoting health promotion schools with the Ministry of Education and Health, allowing the world to better understand Taiwan's efforts and contributions in supporting health promoting schools, and to discuss important health promotion issues with scholars from around the world, demonstrating the close ties between Taiwan and the global health promotion community. We hope that through the international exchange of experiences, the health promoting schools will move towards a new vision of sustainable development.
