1st Empowerment Training Workshop🔖Health promoting schools are jointly promoted by the Health Promotion Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National and K-12 Education Administration of the Ministry of Education. The health promoting issues (e.g., health status, tobacco prevention, e-cigarettes, etc.) that are promoted in school settings require cooperation of resources across units and partnership with the school's surrounding areas (e.g., parents, community).In order to strengthen the communication between staff from different units, this year we invited New Taipei City, Changhua County, Chiayi County, and Tainan City to start the "Health Promoting School and Hygiene Unit Training for Core Staff".
📢The purpose of the training is: (1) to gather representatives of education and hygiene units, school representatives, and representatives of influential parents or community leaders in the county and city who are responsible for health promoting schools through empowerment training, and to provide opportunities for collaboration among different units in the county and city; (2) to apply design thinking to develop a plan for county and city collaboration based on the latest standards of Health Promoting Schools 3.0; and (3) to provide opportunities for county and city observation and learning in the future to understand how different counties and cities are working together across offices or integrating community resources.
Through two empowerment training workshops and an online seminar in the next six months, the training gathered representatives from the Department of Education, the Department of Health, schools, parents, and community organizations, with the expectation that a core team of county and city-level health promotion schools will be established and will work together to develop their own county and city health promoting school policy plans in the future. 🤜🤛
As a start to the training, the first empowerment training workshop was conducted by the project team in the four counties, using a design thinking approach to allow participants to work together to develop a prototype of a cross-county project with parent and community input, and to implement the project before the second workshop to present the results of this period.
