2023 Empowerment Training Workshop for Core Staff of Health Promoting School, Education Units and Health UnitsThis year, the Health Promotion Administration (HPA) and the K-12 Education Administration have continued to conduct the "Health Promoting School and Health Unit Core Personnel Training," encouraging more counties and cities to recognize the importance of cross-departmental cooperation in health promoting. 🤜 🤛
Professor Chen Fuli`s team from Fu Jen Catholic University invited three counties and cities—Taichung City, Taitung County, and Yunlin County—to participate in a series of capacity-building activities this year. The first to third workshops were held locally in September. Finally, on November 16, representatives from these three counties and cities, along with four counties and cities that participated in last year`s training (New Taipei City, Changhua County, Chiayi County, and Tainan City), gathered at Kaohsiung Medical University for the fourth workshop. On that day, the three counties and cities took turns sharing the discussions and outcomes since the September workshops. The four counties and cities shared the current status of cross-departmental cooperation in health promotion since their participation in last year's training. The workshop concluded with recommendations and future outlooks from domestic health promotion experts: Professor Huang Xiaoling, Associate Professor Li Fuhui, Associate Professor Luo Kaiyang, and Assistant Professor Yu Kunhuang.
Through the sharing from these seven counties and cities, we discovered that both education and health units have a strong motivation to help schools achieve sustainable health promoting. However, there seems to be a gap in having a platform and timing for dialogue to understand each other's resources and how to support one another in bringing these resources into schools. The "Health Promoting School and Health Unit Core Personnel Training" capacity-building workshop not only facilitated face-to-face communication between education, health, and school personnel within the counties and cities but also allowed for reflection on the pain points of promoting health promoting school within the counties and cities, leading to the development of innovative solutions.
This workshop has inspired unlimited possibilities for cross-departmental cooperation among counties and cities. We hope that the education and health units in the seven counties and cities will continue to work together sustainably, embedding the concept of health promotion schools in every school! 🌳
