Puzi Junior High School and Jingpu Elementary School in Chiayi County participated in the 4th HPS International Accreditation and both won the Gold Award. The unveiling ceremony was jointly held by Chiayi County Magistrate Zhang-liang Weng, Director-General Ying-wei Wang of the National Health Administration, and Director-General Fuyuan Peng of the K-12 Education Administration. At the ceremony, senior officials, parents and students signed an agreement to create an alliance to extend health promotion activities in schools to families and communities, creating a win-win future for children's education and health.
Chiayi County Magistrate Zhang-liang Weng said, the county government has been actively promoting the six core competencies of internationalization, aesthetics, information, integrity, food and agriculture, and physical fitness as the main themes of the county's education policies, especially food and agriculture education and health promotion, which have long been the focus of Chiayi County government. Many schools in Chiayi County have won awards in this year's accreditation. Through advocacy for health promotion by both central and local governments, we hope that in addition to implementing a healthy lifestyle for students, we can also extend it to families, communities and workplaces, so that we can work together for the health of county residents.
Principal Chong-xian Zeng of Puzi Junior High School pointed out that "health" has long been the school's goal. Puzi introduced a "life practice card" and "jogging card" reward system, and integrated life skills into domain-specific learning. The school also utilized community resources to build smoke-free walking trails and campus greenery, creating quality social and physical environments on campus. Since 2004, Puzi Junior High School has been the focus school in Chiayi County on the development of sex education. Puzi won the Bronze Award and Silver Award of the HPS International Accreditation in 2012 and 2016, respectively. This year, they received the highest honor of the Gold Award.
Principal Li-yin Liu of Jingpu Elementary School emphasized the integration of health promotion education. The school has supported proper recreational activities and encouraged students to go outdoors to build up a strong body. The school has also fostered a healthy community atmosphere that allows the community and campus to be youthful and vibrant, demonstrating a healthy life of wellness, sharing, and prosperity together.
