With the support of Hsinchu County and the joint efforts of all teachers and students, Beipu Elementary School had been actively involved in the preparation for the 2018 HPS International Accreditation since 2016. With the school's vision of "hardworking", "down-to-earth", "health", and "vitality", health promotion and physical education are incorporated into its teaching activities in conjunction with the curriculum guidelines of 12-year basic education. The development of life skills is also implemented in the curriculum. The school has designed a variety of teaching activities as well as parent-child and community engagement events on health promotion. From students to parents, from nutrition to exercise, from concept to action, health promotion has become an attitude of life.
During the accreditation site visit and focus group interviews, both the central and international committee members gave high recognition to Beipu, including its sound physical and natural environments, which facilitate teaching and learning in a friendly and comfortable campus environment and enhance learning effectiveness. In implementing the HPS program at Beipu, emphasis is placed not only on establishing regular exercise and healthy eating habits, but also on the emotional and mental well-being of teachers and students, in order to cultivate media literacy and a healthier lifestyle. The school also takes into account the implementation strategies and effectiveness of various health issues to provide comprehensive health care. During the interviews with a random sample of students, the students spoke enthusiastically, showing the authenticity of their oral expressions and responses, which was highly appreciated by the accreditation committee members. Through interviews with parents, we learned about the school's collaboration with parent volunteers to promote character education and reading education in classes. Beipu also worked with the Farmers' Association, allowing students to redeem their reward points for fresh fruits and vegetables produced by local small farmers, thus realizing the spirit of school-community partnerships and resource sharing. As a result, Beipu Elementary School received both the Gold Award of HPS International Accreditation and the Award of Excellence for Special Topics (healthy body weight), recognizing the school's commitment to health promotion and the effectiveness of Hsinchu County's long-term investment of resources.
